Like many writers nowadays, I was unsure about whether AI would be useful or dangerous for writers careers. However, I’ve now dipped my toe (or should that be keyboard?) into using some AI to assist with my writing. Think of it as another ‘pair of eyes’ checking your writing work when you don’t have a patient, knowledgeable and always available (someone who doesn’t sleep or requite constant cups of tea/coffee to work) editor to hand. And to my mind that’s the best use of AI, to assist the work of humans!

There are many AI tools out there, and some are quite expensive to use, so I recommend caution before paying for something that might not fit with what you need. I also sometimes want free, out of copyright images for articles I write.

I’ve said below which of these I’ve got personal experience of using, but these aren’t affiliate links, just my experience!

1. Grammarly: Grammarly is a widely used tool that helps writers improve their writing by checking for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style errors. It provides suggestions to enhance clarity and coherence.

I’ve used this and it’s simple to use and good at noting common errors.
